Magazine Holder Henne
The Magazine Holder Henne is the perfect place to keep magazines, loose papers or recipes in your home, office or kitchen. Peggy Raphael Dabar designed this collection, Images d’Orient, in Lebanon. Peggy and her brother, Charbel, realised that designing items that endorsed the richness of their heritage was a dream they had to achieve. In 2000 they founded their company and they created a line of day to day objects that combined the charm of their Mediterranean heritage with a contemporary look.
The design of the Henne magazine holder was inspired by the henne decorations. These decorations are often seen on hands and feet in Morocco, other Islamic countries and India. It is difficult to determine henne’s exact origins due to centuries of migration and interaction between the cultures. However henna has been used for at least 5,000 years to enhance beauty and to protect from misfortune. This natural colouring plant, henne, is called ‘paradise leaf’ by Moroccans, as when it is applied it is a message of love and an invitation for pleasure and happiness.
The magazine holder is made from cardboard and comes in a flat pack. It is very easy to assemble.
The magazine holder measures 25.5 x 10.5 x 32cm.
