The Moucharabieh Placemats are part of the stunning Images d’Orient collection designed by Peggy Raphael Dabar in Lebanon.
The moucharabieh is a screen generally built out of small turned wood pieces, assembled according to a complex geometrical scheme. It allowed the viewer to observe without being seen, thus its nickname ‘jealousy windows’. This meticulous technique was and is still used on windows, balconies, ceilings and vaults as well as on furniture in the Mediterranean and Morocco.
Each placemat measures 42 x 33cms.
Placemats are attractively gift-boxed in packs of 2.
Care of your placemats: Wipe with a damp cloth or wash in warm soapy water.
